 Archaeology

Archaeology Graduates of the University of Jaffna will possess critical view of Archaeology origin of human, the human past and other archaeological heritage. They will be familiarize how laboratory examinations of materials found archaeological research lead to an increased analytical understanding of the period, place, culture and or event in question and how to investigate the social, historical and cultural contexts to archaeological research using multi – disciplinary research, drawing on a wide range of other disciplines. They will have ability to apply theoretical and scientific principles and concepts to archaeological problems. They will competent and skill carrier and preserve our past history.

History

Graduates of Bachelor of Arts Honors in History  are produced to demonstrate competencies in knowledge, skills, attitude and mind set inclusive of critical thinking and innovations, integrity, problem solving, communication, leadership and team work, analytical thinking, lifelong learning, decision making, adaptability to modern technology, co-existence, networking, resilience, social and environmental responsibilities. Necessary competencies and professional attributes thus acquired to facilitate the graduates of History   to imply their professions in social and civil institutions.

Cultural Tourism

On successful completion of the B.A (Hons) in Cultural Tourism graduates, will have an accumulated extra- ordinary knowledge in general and they should be able to demonstrate a broad knowledge on the multi-disciplinary fields of Tourism and have a more detailed understanding of several discipline and sub-disciplines. They should have an understanding of the concept of cultural tourism: promoting non-renewable cultural resources through policy, law, and public education. The graduates should be capable of demonstrating an understanding of core knowledge of the history of thought and Basic theoretical foundations in cultural tourism and history. They should have a broad perception of differing, conflicting, and evolving concepts of and assumptions about ‘tourism’ and how these help shape tourism policy and practice. Practicing team working skills necessary to succeed in the global workplace, with an ability to both work in and lead teams effectively, as well as the ability to act autonomously in planning and implementing tasks at a professional or equivalent level.
